Carolynn Usher of the London firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain is one of England's most experienced Hague Convention solicitors. In January she managed what must be one of the quickest returns ever under the Convention. Here is the Chronology: 12.55 pm Receive call from the Irish Central Authority; Father has wrongfully removed children from Ireland, taking them on the ferry from Dublin, estimated time of arrival at Pembroke, Wales 12.45 pm. 1.00 pm Telephone grant of emergency legal aid 1.05 pm Call Pembroke Police to ask them to hold the father and the children on the ferry. They agree after telephone discussions with the Irish Garda. 1.10 pm Call the High Court of Justice in the Strand to request a judge for 2.00 pm. 1.15 pm Brief Counsel. Draft affidavit of solicitor in support of Hague Convention application. 1.50 pm Meet Counsel at Court 2.00 pm Before Mr. Justice Thorpe. Order made, drawn up, signed and faxed to Pembroke police. 3.10 pm Father and children depart Pembroke on the ferry back to Dublin. The abducting father and children were within the jurisdiction of England and Wales for precisely 2 hours and 25 minutes. Surely one for the Guinness Book of Records!
